Jammed pinky finger?

so I don't know if its actually jammed but it hurts like crazy. I hit it at work and pulled it back and now the tip is so sore. when I bend my finger it hurts, but it hurts the most if I put pressure on either side of the nail. also I sort of twisted it and there is a weird crackling sore of feeling. is it jammed sprained or broken in your opinion. I'm asking on here because I live in the middle ofno where and don't want to go to get it checked out if I'm just over reacting
