Puppy chewing problem... got suggestions?

When you are leaving the puppy unattended, she should be kenneled or if no kennel, apply a muzzle. She can still drink, but won't be able to do much damage while wearing a well-fitted muzzle. This can break her habit rather quickly. Also, if she is too interested in the edge of the carpet, you can spray some vinegar to the edge. (spot test the carpet in an inconspicuous area for color fading). Keeping a spray bottle of bitter apple is wonderful to have on hand when she is caught chewing on a forbidden item. One spray to the mouth and she'll drop it and leave it. Then reward her with a treat or even just kind words. Good luck.
