Where do the six-year-olds you know get their money from?

It is a well-known fact that central heating drains a man’s sap, so we have huge, roaring fires, fuelled by wood from the estate. I have advertised for a small village boy or girl to serve an apprenticeship with Blenkinsop, living in each cosy fireplace day and night to watch the fires, clean the ashes, turn the spits and clean the chimney in Spring. My dears, there has not been one single application! Does no-one make children work for their money any more? Where are these six-year-olds getting their money from?
