Making videos on youtube help?

ok so i want to start making vids with my sister and cousin and any other family guest. you know like all those million viewed youtubers who are just so random or very funny and interesting. I notice all the great effects they have like: reversing the footage, adding different colors, talking fast, cutting to a different scene with an efect, adding display to the video itself, EVERYTHING. I dont have a clue to what to call them so i really need help. WHAT do i need to have or know or do to post these riculously largely viewed vids. all i know is... ok wait for it.... press play. stop. review. and if i dont like it run over the previous footage. Please teach me as you would somone who just barely discovered technology.(caveman)
