Who should pay the ticket?$$$?

Al and Ed go to work building interior walls. ED is the boss and his truck was impounded. Al allows Ed to put his materials for the job in his 8 footbed pick-up truck. supplies were 14 - 12 foot long pieces of drywall and 44-2x4s 10 foot long. Tail gate had to stay open and supplies stuck out the back of the pick-up. ED says load is secure and to procede to the job. Al takes off slowly but not super slow because of exiting crouded expressway traffic. Whole load slides right out of bed of truck into the road. quickly they start loading the supplies but not fast enough police catch them and give driver Al $300.00 ticket. Ed thinks Al should have pay at least half $150. these 2 guys have been long time friends and Al was getting paid by the hour not getting half of the money from the job. Who should pay this ticket?
