Should I get a hysterectomy?

I have very painful heavy periods that last 7 days. The first 2-3 days It it affects my ability to work because of the pain. I have to wear a super-plus tampon and a pad because I have huge clots that make me soak through pads within minutes. Amazingly I am not anemic and so far my pap smears are normal. I am 35 and done having children. My uterus is tipped and I have fibroids. I already have stress incontinence. There is a doctor in my town who does a lot of l hysterectomies with anterior and posterior repairs and he has a good reputation. What are women's experiences with this type of surgery?
